2009 Nutmeg Tour for Autism

This year's Tour started from the Westport Campus of St. Vincent's Health Care.  It started out a bit damp and potentially gloomy - but the staff at St. Vincent's had a breakfast of hot coffee, fruit and rolls waiting for the tour participants.  Bill Scheffler welcomed all and gave a brief set of instructions, then introduced Rich Taylor who briefly described the route and how to read the Tour Route Booklet he had prepared.

Bill send the tour off in 30-second intervals into the misty and cool Saturday morning air.

The first stop was at the AACA/HCCA 58th Annual Classic Car Show at the Redding Historical Society grounds. We arrived there at approximately 10am and initially had more vehicles in the tour than were on the field.  Their show field gradually increased as the weather improved.  A couple of our intrepid tour participants had a little difficulty with the route and took a wrong turn - requiring sometime to re-join the route and tour.

With all assembled, we left the car show for the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art in Ridgefield.  It was a short 30-minute segment and all arrived safely to view photos of our featured Artist Timothy White on display in the museum along with their other exhibits.  Chez Lenard of Ridgefield provided a gourmet delightful lunch of gourmet hot dogs, sodas and chips.  Many of the museum's members came to view the assembled vehicles in their parking lot.

After lunch, it was a 1-hour route through South Salem, New Canaan and Wilton to Bruce Bennett's Nissan for afternoon refreshments and review of the latest Nissan vehicles including the new GTR and 350 and 370Z's.

After Bruce Bennett's, it was a short 40-minute route back to the Hunt Club and the d'Elegance Reception and Preview.
